Research and Classes

The Arboretum is an outdoor classroom for students at Kalamazoo College. In the past, it has been used by biology courses, chemistry courses, environmental studies courses, service learning courses, philosophy classes, art classes and physical education classes. In addition to class work, it has also been the subject of scientific research for students and faculty.

Students may conduct research projects and independent studies during the academic year or over the summer at the Arboretum under the guidance of college faculty. Several students have conducted their Senior Individualized Projects (SIPs) here.

If you would like to take a class to the Arb, or would like to conduct research, investigation or an experiment, please fill out the appropriate Land Use Request Form.
